William Donaldson Bennett Jr.

William Donaldson Bennett, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 5th. He was 83. Born in Somerville and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late William D. and Elizabeth (Gibson) Bennett from Glasgow, Scotland.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a proud member of the class of 1960 from Medford High School. During the Vietnam War he served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. There he earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, among other honors. Returning to civilian life later in the decade, he began a long career in management at Delta Air Lines. He met the love of his life, the former Ann Corso, whom he married and with whom he built his family. Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In retirement he and Ann had fun touring the world, especially spending time in Maine with his children and grand children. He continued doing some work at his friend Jimmy Petroniâ??s company, Gnomon Copy and Print.

The beloved husband of the late Ann D. (Corso) Bennett, who passed away in 2013, William was a devoted father to Helen Politano and her husband Vito of Reading, William D. Bennett III and his wife Karyn, and Anthony Bennett and his wife Valerie, all of Reading. Bill was a loving grandfather to William, Nicole, Ethan, Lily, William IV, and Gabriella, and his step grandchildren, Julie Herman and Thomas Herman. He was a dear brother to the late Barbara Mignault, and Mary Keane.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, October 9 from 10 AM â?? 12 Noon, followed by a prayer service in the funeral home at Noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
