William Robert Berry, age 84, of Adrian, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor with his family by his side. William was born February 1931 in Granger, Indiana, St. Joseph County to William S. and Clara V. (Owens) Berry. He was united in marriage October 21, 1950 in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blissfield to Beverly L. Smith. He moved to Deerfield, Michigan in 1942. Then later moved to Tecumseh and Raisin Township. He graduated from Blissfield high School in 1949. William retired from Tecumseh Products, after 33 years in 1990. He relocated to Sevierville, Tennessee from 1992-1995. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1951-1955. Tour of Duty included stationed with the Allied Air Forces of Central Europe in France. William was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Adrian, was Awards Chairman of the Birdsall Cub Scouts, was a member of the Tecumseh American Legion, Underwood Orr Post #34, was a life member of Lenawee County Voiture Locale 997, served as correspondent for 14 years and Chef-De-Gare as well as several offices locally and at the state level for the 40 et 8, served on the Raisin Township Board as Trustee, also on the Planning Commission, Cemetery Board and Park Committee, was a member of the Democratic Party of Lenawee County, also served as Secretary for Democratic Friends of Senior Citizens for nine years. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Genevieve (Gaylord) Hoffman of Adrian; three children, William R. (Melissa) Berry, Jr. of Tipton, Jeffrey A.(Terri) Berry of Adrian and Kenneth S. (Mary) Berry of Adrian; grandchildren, Kristie (Gary) Nissen, Beth Jones, Rachel Wegner, Sarah (Brian) Morgan, Kasey Jo Reiser-Berry and Justin Reiser; five great grandchildren, William, Aulora, Damien, Jack and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Phyllis Miller and grandson Brandon K. Berry. He enjoyed traveling and camping and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed time spent with his family and one very special motorcycle event. Bill also had a unique gift of working with his hands. The Funeral Liturgy for William will be offered Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Strouse as celebrant. Burial will be in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian with full military rites conducted by the Tecumseh American Legion Underwood-Orr Post #34, and Tecumseh V.F.W. Hall Slater Post #4187. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church - St. Vincent DePaul Society of Adrian. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
