William "Bill" Borgen Jr., 99, of Hendrum-Perley, MN, died March 4, 2024, under the care of Hospice at Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth, MN.
Bill was born January 21, 1925, to William Sr. and Lillian (Reppen) Borgen. He grew up and attended country school near Georgetown, MN, and began his lifelong career in farming by working on the family farm. On June 8,1948, he was united in marriage to Alice Ogard, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum. Bill and Alice made their home in rural Perley where they farmed and raised their 4 sons: Richard, Wayne, Jeff and Randy.
Bill will be remembered for his generosity and his passion for serving the community. He cared deeply for local issues and served actively on the Board of Directors for: Hendrum-Perley School, Farmers Union Co-op Oil Company of Perley, Perley Farmers Elevator, and Wild Rice Watershed. He was a committed father to his 4 boys and never missed attending their events.
The family enjoyed many years together at their lake home on South Twin Lake that Bill built with his own hands. He also enjoyed spending time with his extended family at the hunting cabin in Northern Minnesota. Never one to sit idle, Bill was actively engaged in farming for 7 decades until retiring at the age of 93.
Bill is survived by his 4 sons and their families: Richard (Patricia) Borgen, and their children, Jessica (Brian) Rust (parents of Alexander, Addison, Harper and Chase), and James Borgen; Wayne (Kari) Borgen, and their children, Lauren (Michael) Houglum (parents of Finley and Mace) and Leslie (Steven) Herrman (parents of Trey and Bea); Jeff (Vickey) Borgen, and their children, Andrew (Jenny) Pederson (parents of Nora and Isla), Trevor (Ashley) Pederson (parents of Lennon), Haylee Borgen and Evan Borgen; Randy (Lori) Borgen, and their children, Candace (Jay) Nielsen (parents of Avery and Jude), Amanda (Sean) Wdowiak (parents of Isla and William), Grant Borgen and Brooke Borgen. He is also survived by his siblings: Curtis (Betty) Borgen, Dennis Borgen, and Ann (Rex) Lindblom and sisters-in-law: Mary Borgen and Elaine Borgen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice, and his siblings: Doris, John, Charles, Leon, Russell, Mae, and Bert.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 1:30 P.M., with visitation from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Interment will be at Landstad Cemetery in Perley, MN. The funeral will be livestreamed at www.wrightfuneral.com.
