William “Bill” Levi Darby, 83, of Duncombe, IA, died Sunday, February 15, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. A private inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
William was born January 30, 1943, in Fort Dodge, the son of Eugene and Luetta (Henderson) Darby. He graduated from Callender High School in 1961. In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. Bill was united in marriage to Carolyn King on August 18, 1967, in Reno, NV. Over the years, he worked for Sun Chemical in the printing industry until his retirement in 2004. Bill enjoyed riding his bike, playing tennis, fishing, and traveling to festivals (Blues & Jazz).
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years: Carolyn Darby of Duncombe; son: Aaron (Ayori) Darby of San Leandro, CA; 2 grandchildren: Trinity and Amador; and sister: Mary (Martin) Janssen of rural Manson, IA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Elizabeth Ewing; and brother: Patrick Darby.
