William “Bill” George Engelmann, Sr. passed away on September 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Muskegon, MI to the late George and Betty (Legg) Engelmann on September 16, 1943. He attended school in Mount Vernon, IL after the family moved there when he was a child. Following his schooling he joined the Navy and honorably served until 1966. Upon returning home from his military service he met Dawn Geboy who was destined to become his true soulmate. They married St Louis in 1974 and shared the next 51 years together.
Bill was an excellent salesman, and the family followed him to various locations during the peak of his sales career. It was often said that Bill literally COULD sell ice cubes to Eskimos! Eventually, Bill’s job opportunities led them to Appleton, and they bought a house there and truly built a home.
Bill loved golf, enjoyed playing horseshoes with friends and boating. Most of all, spending time with family and friends was his favorite thing to do!
Bill is survived by his wife Dawn; children: George W. Engelmann, Jason (Ka Lee) D. Engelmann; grandchildren: Bradley, Callee, Cassidy, Klara, Marissa, Liyam; daughter-in-law: Susan Engelmann. He is further survived by his sister JoAnn Dow; special niece Cindy and nephews: Mike, Frank as well as many other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents his son William S. Engelmann, Jr.
A memorial gathering will take place to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday September 27, 2025, from 1:00pm until 2:30pm, with a small celebration service taking place at 2:00pm ending with military honors.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
