William Joseph "Bill" Helms

1952 - 2025

Mr. William (Bill) Joseph Helms, 73, entered into rest on Tuesday December 2, 2025.

Bill was born on October 28, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Lester and Marcia Helms. He graduated from Butler High School in 1971 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Germany as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Following his service to the country, Bill began a career in the textile industry, later moving into air separation where he retired to travel with his wife, Judy, of 48 years. Bill loved hunting and fishing and took great pride in being a dad and a grandfather. You could often find him tinkering in his garage, fishing on the river for bass and brim, or sitting in a deer stand waiting for the next big buck to walk by. Bill was a kind and patient soul, beloved by all around him.

Surviving family members include his wife Judy, daughters Jessica Hall (Jonathan) and Monica Linton (Chris), and four grandchildren, Sarah, Owen, Tucker and Shepard, brother Clyde Helms (Mary), sister Loretta Patterson (Dennis), and brother-in-law Lou Boone.
