William "Bill" Dean Lineberry, II

William Dean “Bill” Lineberry II, 56, of Littlesburg Road, Bluefield, West Virginia passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 from injuries sustained in an accident involving an AEP tractor-trailer and a train in Roanoke County, Virginia. Bill was born on August 12, 1959 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late William and Eloise Wilson Lineberry. He was a 1978 graduate of Bluefield High School, where he played baseball, attended vocational classes, and fell in love with his future wife, Lisa Shires. He was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell. His entire 30-year professional career had been spent with AEP/Appalachian Power as a lineman. Bill had many hobbies outside of professional work. He was an avid deer hunter and spent many a cold morning with his closest friends and oldest son sitting in tree stands. Bill also drag raced for many years throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Numerous Saturdays were spent at dragstrips throughout the region—from Elk Creek, to Kanawha County, to Bristol. Nothing thrilled Bill more than going fast on a dragstrip. Sports were also a special thing Bill enjoyed with his wife. They enjoyed watching their youngest son play baseball. Whenever a baseball game was being played at Bowen Field, Bill and Lisa were more than likely to be sitting there with each other watching. While these hobbies were substantial, Bill invested the most time in the restoration of classic cars. Every Saturday he could be found in his garage with friends tinkering on various cars. He did not discriminate in his love of cars; he owned cars from old to new. Most recently, he spent the majority of his time perfecting his pride and joy, a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro, which was his first collector automobile. In addition to actually working on cars, Bill also loved to take them out to local and regional car shows and swap meets. He, his wife, and friends often traveled far and wide to attend car shows and meets together. Survivors include his devoted wife of 29 years, Lisa Shires Lineberry of the home; two sons: William “Billy” Lineberry III and companion Rachel Sparkman of Richmond, Virginia; James “Logan” Lineberry and companion Kaitlyn Leary of Blacksburg, Virginia; sister: Karen Sue Mabe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jim and Margaret Shires of Bluewell, West Virginia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gene and Lori Combs of Glenwood, West Virginia; niece and nephews: Allison Combs and Brody Combs of Glenwood, West Virginia; Ryan McPeak and wife April of Tazewell, Virginia; special cousins: Mark Lineberry and wife Renee, along with their four sons of Glenwood, West Virginia; G.T. Lineberry and wife Diana of Lexington, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, West Virginia with Rev. James Milam and Associate Minister Rod Hedrick officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell where special friends and family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
