William “Bill” Pieper, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Essentia-St. Josephs in Brainerd, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00PM, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, with Fr. Tony Wroblewski officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
Bill was born in Hector, MN to William and Rebecca (Knacke) Pieper on September 15, 1929. He served his country in the US Airforce for two and a half years, one being in Korea. Bill was married to Virginia Fosse in Minneapolis, MN on May 9, 1953. He worked for Hitchcock Industries as a core maker for 36 years. Bill and Virginia moved to Garrison in 1991 and were able to enjoy the lake life for 26 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1816. Bill enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, fishing, and was a Twins and Vikings fan. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Ginny of 65 years; daughters, Cheryl (David) Hawkinson of Cloquet, MN, Debra (Charles) Hawkinson of Mellen, WI; son, William Jr of Bloomington, MN; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and step-brother, Frank Blake. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; parents, William and Rebecca; three sisters and his step-dad.
