William "Bill" Wallace Spangler

Mr. William “Bill” Wallace Spangler, age 97 of Summerfield, North Carolina, passed away at home Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Dudley Singleton Spangler and Mary Josephine Spangler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Spangler Cartwright and Bernice Spangler Irvin, and one half-sister, Nellie Gray Wheeler. Bill was successful as a general contractor. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid antique collector. He was a longtime member of Christ Wesleyan Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bill had a heart for missionary work and served on many trips bringing the word of Jesus where he traveled.

Mr. Spangler is survived by his beloved wife of 8 years, Arlene S. Ray-Spangler; six children, Empress Darlene Spangler, Deborah Lanette Spangler, Kelly Spangler Boone, Mark Alan Spangler, William Wallace Spangler, Jr., and Mylena Rae Spangler; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved fur baby, Annie.

Funeral services for Mr. Spangler will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Wesleyan Church, 2400 South Holden Road, Greensboro, North Carolina, with Pastor Santes Beatty officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Burial will be at a later date in the Spangler Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan, Virginia.
