William Black

It is with both a heavy heart and an appreciation for a life well-lived that we share the passing of William Ray Black, affectionately known as Bill or Willie, on May 20, 2023. Born on February 10, 1959, in Belvidere, IL, William spent his entire life as a proud resident of Rockton, Illinois. A funny, generous, reliable, and talented man, William touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
William's dedication and hard work as a machine operator in the manufacturing industry were evident throughout his long career at ITW Shakeproof in Machesney Park, IL, from which he retired in 2022. Yet, it was outside of work where his passions truly came alive. An avid fisherman and talented drummer, William could often be found enjoying time on the water or behind a drum set. His adventurous spirit led him to embrace the thrill of riding motorcycles and the serenity of camping trips. However, at the heart of it all, William cherished the time spent with his family, friends, and beloved dogs, Barrett and Bentley.
William is survived by his ex-wife, Tina Black; his son, Wesley Black; his daughter, Savanna Black; siblings, Gwen, Sandy and Mike; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Hazel Black. As we remember the life of William Black, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL. Cremation Rites will be Accorded.
