William Blevins Obituary

Graveside service for Mr. William Robert Blevins, 82, of Jacksonville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Anniston Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Frank Reid officiating.
Mr. Blevins passed away on September 19, 2025.
Preceding Mr. Blevins in death are his parents, Avery and Hattie, and brother Ralph (Jack) Blevins.
Left to cherish the memory of Mr. Blevins are his son, Les Edward (and wife Sherrie) Blevins; his daughter, Lisa Elaine (and husband Craig) Heaton; and his kitties, Angel "Little Girl", Spartacus "Sparky", and Bella " Isabella, Maria, Elena, Sophia, Conchita, Teresa" and Cali Blevins; and sisters, Kathleen, Carol, and Evelyn.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Bill was born on August 27, 1943, in Pulaski, Virginia, where he was also raised, then later in Chicago. He moved to San Jose, CA in his late teens where he met his beloved Gloria Jean Cox. He had a strong spiritual connection to The Faith Temple Church, was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed watching Dr. Charles Stanley, whom he had the privilege of seeing in person at the First Baptist Church of Atlanta. Bill, an avid music lover, was known for being a do-it-yourselfer and had several interests such as tinkering with anything electronics, woodworking, and cutting and polishing semi-precious stones (lapidary) found on family vacations. He retired from FMC/United Defense where he began working as a young adult in San Jose, CA. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in his spare time and they would travel to places in their motor home, of which they had traveled over 100,000 miles. Of all places they visited, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Alaska, and the Great Smokey Mountains were of their favorites.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the entire Gentiva Hospice team who were amazing beyond words. When everything else seemed hopeless, they made everything possible and effortless. This team has a genuine love for their patients and families and passion for what they do.
We thank everyone for their love and prayers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Blevins' memory to Faith Temple Christian Center, 831 Alexandria Road, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
