Thelma Starks

Thelma W. Starks, 73, of East St. Louis, Ill., departed this life Wednesday, March 17, 2010, in St. Louis, Mo.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 49 years, the Rev. Rufus Starks; a daughter, Gwendolyn Starks-Hill; two grandchildren, Justin and Broderick Hill; three sisters, Ruth Marshall, Juanita Harris and Sally Johnson; six brothers, Charles (Margaret) Wren, Marvin (Lueburta) Wren; Arthur Wren, Wardie (Carla) Wren Jr., Melvin Wren and Marion (Desiree) Wren; a stepdaughter, Ruth Starks; a god-daughter, Gwendolyn Hoosman-Jones, along with many others; a dear friend of many years Quientella Calvert; a devoted caretaker and niece, Katrina Sturdivant; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends called Monday, March 22, 2010 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 5000 Bond Ave., East St. Louis, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the church. Interment will be in Sunset Gardens of Memory, Millstadt, Ill.
