William Bogan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Macken Mortuary, Inc. - Rockville Centre on Jan. 30, 2026.
W. Justin Bogan passed away on January 25,

2026, in Oceanside, New York, at the age of 71.

Born on April 21, 1954, in Freeport, New York,

Justin spent much of his life along the southern

shores of Long Island, where the ocean played a

central role in his life.

A graduate of Southside High School, Class of

1972, Justin made Long Beach, New York his

home for most of his adult years. There, he

embraced the coastal lifestyle and became

known for his deep connection to the sea. An

avid surfer, Justin found joy and solace riding the

waves year-round. His surfing buddies gave him

the nickname "rooster" because of his long red

hair flying in the wind on his board. His passion

for surfing extended beyond local waters-he

spent many winter months in Tobago with his

friends Eamon and Dean, where they shared

countless days immersed in the rhythm of island

life and the surf.

In addition to his passion for all things ocean and

surf related, Justin had a passion for great music

and would get to every live show he possibly

could and loved to share the experience with

friends and family, especially his nieces and

nephews.

Justin was part of a large and loving family. He is

remembered by his siblings Peter, Mary Ann, Sue

Ellen, Jean, and Patricia and by his longtime best

friend, Lisa. He was predeceased by his parents,

William and Annamarie Bogan, as well as his

sister Christine.

His presence will be missed by those who knew

him-from the beaches of Long Island to the

shores of Tobago. May his memory bring comfort

to all who shared in his journey.
