Mr. William G. "Bill" Bratton, age 71, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at the Suites of Accentcare Hospice, Wilmington, Delaware
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of Catherine Irene Tagmire and John B. Bratton, he was one of four sons. He was raised in the Aston and Lenni areas of Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Bill proudly served and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the final years of Viet Nam "boots on the ground" era in the 4th Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Infantry. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and two clasps. As his patriotism continued, throughout his life as a an active member in VFW Post #6613 Bonaventure Clark Murphy Post, as well as of David C. Dolby Sussex AMVETS Post #2, and the American Legion Post #28. His numerous acts reflected his true heartfelt concern for those service family members. He held numerous officer positions in these organizations, their color/ honor guard, Third Vice Commander, Judge Advocate, and the State of Delaware Provost Marshal. In keeping with his life code "endeavor to Persevere", he related "Never Give Up the Good Fight" and "Be it lonely in these positions, step up and honor those who gave all.
Prior to retirement, Bill was the operations and maintenance technician in the Pot- Nets Living Communities for Tunnell Companies, LP in Millsboro, Delaware.
Bill enjoyed hanging with his friends at the Amvets. Always enjoyed his coffee and chatting it up with the community. He was known as, "Dollar Bill," in the community of Pot Nets and the Amvets. He loved Ramen noodles and would put whatever was in the fridge in that bowl of ramen before it was popular to do so!!! He was always a hard worker at wherever he was working, good work ethic. He LOVED Steve McQueen Novels and was an avid reader. He was a very passionate man about what he liked and wanted in the moment.
In addition to his late parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Bratton, and his sister-in-lawn, Christine Bratton. He is survived by his brothers, Frank Bratton and John Bratton; his nieces, Kim Marcoux, Stacey Tighe and Jessica Bratton and his nephew, Denny Bratton; his close friend, Jason, husband of Laurie Ficili and his roommate and best friend, Nancy Pope.
Arrangements have been honored and entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.
Military honors and graveside services will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware 19966 on Friday, December 5, 2025 promptly beginning at 2:00 p.m.

You will be missed. I always had your unconditional support everyday. Being a very close friend to my father, once you realized who I was and from the same hometown, you immediately adopted me as a daughter. We were family. May you rest in peace.
