William James Brennan, age 74, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home.
Bill was born on July 16, 1951 in Spring Valley, IL to Edward and Margaret (Moore) Brennan. He married Brenda Faye Shaddy on February 7, 1976 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Peoria. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2024. Also preceding him in death are his son, Patrick Allen Brennan; his parents; and his sister, Kate Hopkins.
Surviving are his sons, William James (Renee) Brennan, II of Chillicothe, IL and Edward Ray Brennan of Chillicothe, IL; his fur-baby and constant companion, Ace; his sister, Pat Gruber of Kettering, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a salesman and had worked for Hennepin Marine, Sieg Automotive and Dave Gill Sterling Trucks. Bill was a very active member of the Chillicothe Fire Protection District, where he was an arson investigator. He was a member of the Fred Meister Chillicothe Community Firefighter's Association, the Red Knights Illinois Chapter 19 Motorcycle Club, St. Edward Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and he volunteered at the Wheels of Time Museum. Bill also enjoyed golfing, boating and working on firetrucks and boats.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 4:30pm and the firefighter's walk though will be at 6pm. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass on Saturday. Burial of ashes, along with his wife, Brenda, and his sons, Patrick, will be held later in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Henry. Memorials in Bill's name may be made to the Fred Meister Chillicothe Community Firefighter's Association. Bill leaves a giant void at the. WOT museum where he and I met and quickly became friends and worked closely together. We will miss him but never forget him.
