At McDonald Baseball Stadium I grabbed a catcher's mitt to warm Bill up. I had never caught any of his pitches before, so when he threw his "wicked" curve ball, it was a complete surprise how much of a break it had. I can still remember his smile when he saw the look of surprise on my face.

So sorry to hear about Bill!
Growing up Bill and I were neighbors and close friends. I spent many hours at their house where we put train sets together if the weather was bad or terrorizing the neighborhood during the good days!
I truly treasure those memories of growing up and spending a lot of my youth and teen years hanging out with Bill!
RIP Bill!

Sincerely,
Kent Mangels
