William A. Burkitt Jr.

William Arthur Burkit Jr (Bill and Pop) died peacefully at the age of 89 on November 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. William was born April 15, 1936, and was raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. He was a graduate of Northeast Public High School, where he was the Center of his High School football team when they won the city championship. William worked as a Machinist at Alfa Lava/Stokes retiring in 1991 after over 30 years of service.

William will be remembered as a kind and compassionate husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved being surrounded by his family. He was known for his strong work ethic, steadfast faith, as well as for his loving nature, and dry wit. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking with Laura, deep sea fishing and coaching his grandson's baseball teams William encouraged his family to be well-educated, work hard, and always show respect. He also taught them to save for a rainy day and follow their dreams.

William was a beloved husband of over 60 years to the Laura Florence Burkitt (nee Cullen) and father to Lisa Ulmer (Michael) of Mount Laurel, NJ Diana DeQuattro (Dean) of Palmyra, NJ, Dawn Burkitt of Palmyra, NJ and Delinda Ragan of Cinnaminson, NJ. He was the son of the late William A Burkitt Sr and Mary Catherine Burkitt (nee Burke) and siblings Mary, John. William is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren (Matthew Ulmer (Julie), Leeann McDonnell (Brendan), Gary Ragan, Nicholas DeQuattro (Cheyenne), and Sid Depew, great grandchildren (Maren McDonnell and Myles Ulmer) and siblings Anna, Jeanette and James (Jimmy)

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad Street, Riverton, NJ 08077, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM held at Christ Episcopal Church, 638 Parry Avenue, Palmyra, NJ 08065.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Palmyra, NJ. 638 Parry Ave, Palmyra, NJ 08065.
