William McKiffer Burns, age 72, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 1990 at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born October 14, 1917 in Mill Gap, a son of Elmer Eskridge and Mattie A. (Buzzard) Burns.
He was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church and was a farmer and logger.
Survivors include his widow, Janet L. Burns of Monterey; four daughters, Rosetta Mae Darcey of Meriden, Conn., Peggy Jean Armstrong of Churchville, Sylvia Lynn Carlson of Staunton and Beverly Marie Norman of Kernersville, NC; two sons, Phillip M. of Monterey and Jerry M. Burns of Deerfield; step-son, Delmas Lowry of Monterey; sister, Virginia Buzzard of Minnihaha, WV; two brothers, Stanley C. of Monterey and Floyd S. Burns of Staunton; and nine grandchildren.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Revs. C. William Cox and David Schill. Burial will be in Burnsville Cemetery.
The family will meet 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Beulah Presbyterian Church for lunch.
Pallbearers will be Allen and Mike Lowry, Randy Harold, Jim Hefner, Richard and Jacob Hevener, George Smith, and Darrell Gumm Jr.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
