William L. Byers

William L. Byers, 91, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, with his loving family by his side. Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 18, 1934, to William B. and Juanita E. (Speck) Byers. Bill went to Scott High School and then married the love of his life, Carolyn (Scheirmyer), on January 12, 1957. Bill had worked for Art Mosiac Tile Company and then went on the pursue a career in sales for Michigan Terrazzo and Marble Supply. He had a passion for fishing, boating, coaching little league baseball, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Bill also enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas, but what he cherished most was his loving family.

Surviving are his children, Diane (Gary) Spetz, William "Billy" Byers, Julie Hardy; grandchildren, Joel (Brittany), Jordan (Kaitlyn), Jenna (Bethany), Blake (Tara), Blair (Adam), Katie, Billy, Steven (Brittany), Christopher; 9 wonderful great-grandchildren; step-sister, Carol Deal; step-brother, Bill Simmons; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; infant daughter, Lynn Ellen; stepfather, Lester Simmons; siblings, Greta Dixon, Norma Thrush, Pauline Kovacs; sister-in-law, Marilyn; and brothers-in-law, Ernest, Wayne and James.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 2:00 -8:00 p.m., at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
