Bill, as he was known by, was born to Edna (Penny) and WWII Pilot, William R. Candy was born in Greenville, SC, but was raised in Vermont.
Bill served honorably in the US Navy Submarine Service from 1963-1971 on the following submarines: U.S.S. Fulton, U.S.S. John C. Calhoun, U.S.S. Haddo.His navy service led him into Nuclear Engineering and Project Management, his career took him all around the country: Bechtel, Florida Power, Savannah River Site, & Los Alamos National Laboratory.After retiring, he used his skills as a teacher, he was responsible for establishing the Nuclear Program at Augusta Technical College. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and taught various classes at Evans Christian Academy. He volunteered to help people get ready to take the GED and he volunteered in prison ministry.He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Joyce.He is survived by his wife of 36 years,Arlene L. Candy ; Two sons, William Robert Candy III (Kristin),Sean Candy (Renee), and a Daughter, Danielle N. Candy ; Two Grandsons, Dillon and Austin ; Three Sisters, Laurel (Wally) Farnum, Linda (John) Stanke, and Paula (Bill) Cody And numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday May 10, 2023 @2pm @ Christ the King Lutheran Church (Evans to Lock Rd. Martinez, GA.)
