William "Buddy" Rogers Chalker, Jr., 59, of Wallingford, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Sharon Weil-Chalker and dear father to William Chalker III and Ethan Chalker. He was predeceased by his brother, Scott King Chalker, and his parents, Joan King Chalker and William R. Chalker, Sr.. Buddy was born and raised in Delaware. He attended Clemson University and graduated from the University of Delaware with degrees in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. He was a founding member of the University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit, and later continued to volunteer as an EMT elsewhere. As a security systems and fire safety expert, he co-founded Securitech, Inc. He lived in Wilmington and Newark, Delaware until relocating to Wallingford. He lived to help people, which is why he was active as a volunteer Fire Policeman in Eddystone for more than a decade. Buddy is remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to all. His generous heart and amazing outlook on life will never be forgotten. Buddy was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying, sailing, scuba diving, and spending time with family in Ocean City, NJ. He was an avid reader, a computer expert, and a creative designer and inventor. All are invited to funeral services, Sunday, September 11th at 1PM at Congregation Ohev Shalom, 2 Chester Road, Wallingford, PA. Interment will be private. Shiva will be observed at the Chalker residence on Sunday and Monday at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Buddy's memory may be made to the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics, CureAngelman.org.

I will always remember the love in his eyes when he would watch you standing talking with me about our boys at Mayfair. He would always seem to be deep in thought and then add in a comment that would let me know he was listening to us not just waiting. He would have such joy in his eyes when he would find something funny. He will be missed. You and the boys are in my thoughts and held close to my heart.

Buddy was easy to get along with and not judgmental. He was a supportive father and husband. A kind and good person. I will miss him very much.

Buddy left quite an impression from the moment I met him In my early days at the School in Rose Valley. He was a very involved dad in his son William's preschool class. He was humorous and quite a debater, so much so that i think he bated me just for the fun in it (I still tell stories about those days-fond memories). Even when we didn't see eye-to-eye I always appreciated that Buddy was willing to hear me out and consider my ideas. There was nothing I couldn't ask him for help with In the classroom. Of course he was a hoot on field trips. Thanks Buddy.

I went for Friday lunch as usual, and looked for Buddy's Nissan Leaf, like last week. Yesterday, it wasn't anywhere in the parking lot. Just hit home that he's actually gone. We had so many good times and memories going all the way back to founding UDECU with our now lifelong friends in 1976. He will be absolutely missed but remembered by all of us. Sharon, Will and Ethan, we've got your back forever.

Buddy was unique...a remarkable mind, mechanical talent, distinctive sense of humor, champion of fairness. The world is a poorer place in his absence. David Salati UDECU '82
