William Andrew “Bill” Colvin, seventy-nine years old, died on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at home in Monroe, LA. He was born in Jacksonville, TX to Cecil M. Colvin and Loree W. Colvin and was raised in Ruston, LA. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Eva B. Colvin, daughters Jeni Franklin (Tommy) and Emily Crooks, granddaughter, Abbie VanZile, grandsons, Seth VanZile, Trevor Crooks, Brady Crooks, Hayden Franklin, and Blake Franklin, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ceilia Colvin Boudreaux.

After graduating from Ruston High School in 1964, Bill received an undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and an advanced degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. For over forty years, Bill was a dedicated educator. During those years, he served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and finally as a supervisor for the Ouachita Parish School Board.

Bill had a full and well-rounded life. For many years he has been a loyal member of First Methodist Church, Monroe, LA. He and Eva were part of the Friendship Sunday School Class where they formed many lifelong relationships. He served in mission work in Bolivia and in Alaska.

An avid outdoorsman, his passions were hunting ducks, squirrels, doves and fishing for white perch. He excelled in making fishing jigs and has a shop full of them. He also enjoyed spending time working in the yard. Bill was a great storyteller, and his family will cherish them for years to come. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he lovingly spent untold hours attending ball games, school programs, and any other events involving his family.

Services for William Andrew “Bill” Colvin will be Friday, April 11, 2025, at the First Methodist Church, Monroe, LA. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. The memorial service will follow at 2:30 PM, with the Dr. Brian Mercer officiating. Honorary pall bearers will be his grandsons and nephews. There will be a private family only inurnment in the First Methodist Church Columbarium.
