Command SGT Major, William Keith Jones of Derby, Kansas (formerly of Heavener, Oklahoma) was born August 21, 1972 in Little Rock, Arkansas to William Henry "Bill" and Carolyn (Fox) Jones and passed away on July 21, 2025 in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 52. He is preceded in death by his father, William Jones. He is survived by: His mother: Carolyn Jones of Heavener, Oklahoma Two daughters: Sakari Jones and Gracie Jones of Germany Several aunts, uncles, other loved ones, cousins, and host of friends Keith was a 1991 graduate of Heavener High School. During the summer between his junior and senior year, Keith enlisted in the United States Army and attended boot camp at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. Over his 35 year career in the United States Army Keith moved up in the ranks to finish his career as a Command SGT Major. He served two tours in Iraq and Bosnia. Keith has touched many lives over his military career. Keith loved the outdoors spending time with family fishing and hunting, but Keith's biggest love was for his two daughters, Sakari and Gracie. Keith was a humble man and did not boast about the accolades he accomplished over the years during his military career but never missed a chance to talk about his girls, they truly were his heart and soul. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma with Brother Joey Bottoms officiating. Burial will follow in the Reichert Cemetery in the Reichert Community with military honors by the Poteau DAV Chapter #63. The arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be: David Holley, Randall Fox, Trevor Fox, Jimmy Dunigan, Wes Jones, and Cody Harvell. Viewing will begin at Noon until 6:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
