William Andrew Conner Sr.

Mr. William Andrew 'Bill' Conner, Sr., age 70, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at a local hospital.

Mr. Conner was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany, on March 8, 1955, son of the late Van J. Conner and the late Nancy L. Wolf Conner. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Sholseth, and his mother-in-law, Juanita P. Atcheson.

Bill was a very avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fishing. He really enjoyed taking his family and close friends on those trips. Prior to his retirement, he was a longtime employee at Continental Baking, as a Bakery Maintenance Engineer, and he was an Industrial Electrician at Temple Inland. Bill was a member of the IBEW Local #613, and he was also a member of BME Local #7. In his later years, and before his health declined, he enjoyed building jet boats and even began his own business building them. Bill was a jack of all trades and could fix and build pretty much anything. He loved being a Paw-Paw and spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a very selfless man and lived to care for others, especially his wife and family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife to whom he was married on March 29, 1975, Edna L. Poole Conner; his son, 1st Sgt. William A 'Bill' Conner Jr., USMC (Hang); his daughter, Lori Duvall (Johnny); his grandchildren, Mikayla Walters, Lauren Walters, Matthew Van Conner, and Mallory Conner; his great grandchild, Kyzen Nixon; his brother, Steven Conner (Annette); his sister, Vanessa Conner Young; his niece, Melissa Tolbert (Matthew); his nephews, Scott Keyport and David Conner; and his great niece, Maddison Tolbert.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:00am, in the chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Pastor Matthew Bowden officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel on Friday by 9:30am and include, Johnny Duvall, Aaron Duvall, Matthew Van Conner, Matthew Tolbert, and Junior Haygood.
