William G. Coody

1946 - 2022

William George Coody, 76, of North Adams died on Friday, October 7, 2022 at home.

William was born in North Adams on July 18, 1946 a son of the late George S. Coody & Veronica A. (Miller) Coody. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.

William was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War receiving several citations and medals including the Vietnam Service Medal, 4 Overseas Bars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Purple Heart. After the military, he was employed at the Berkshire Tannery where he worked as a leather softener operator for many years. He was also an avid fisherman with the Deerfield River being his favorite place.

William was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his daughter Christine Coody of Easthampton, son Steven E. Coody of Hawkinsville GA; sisters Marilyn Mahar, Phyllis Gaule, Janine Zoito, Carol Burdick, and Martha Pratt; and brother Edward Coody, a grandchild and many nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his brother Michael Coody.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A private burial with military honors for William Coody will take place in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.
