William Albert Cox, Bill, 86, Louisville, Kentucky, passed away at Walnut Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Evansville, Indiana on Saturday March 11, 2023. Bill was born on August 28, 1936 at his home in Oakland City to the late Glenn and Delouris Cox.
Bill graduated from Oakland City High School class of 1954. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force with 21 years of service. He furthered his education after retiring from the service, taking classes at ISUE, which is now USI. Later, he retired from PSI, which is now Duke Energy. Bill married Alyna Kuszowski on March 15, 1958. They were married for 50 years before she preceded him in death. Bill married Martha Dodge on June 22, 2013. Bill was very involved in his faith and attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City, Indiana from 1975 to 2013 and a member of the Parish council. He was a member of the Oblates of Saint Meinrad and Knights of Columbus, a fourth-degree member, he received the Brute Award. In 2013 he attended Saint Michael Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky until 2022. Bill loved fishing, hunting, trap shooting, gardening, judo, and umpiring for the Little League ballgames. He also enjoyed traveling with Martha and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Martha Cox; daughters, Sandra Uppencamp (Steve) and Brenda Denton (Danny Dunn); son, Bill Cox (Pam); stepchildren, Kelly Lamonte (Tim); Milton Dodge (Andrea), and Phillip Dodge (Alison); grandchildren, Nicole Sharp (Jason), Summer Kays (Ryan), Crystal Rose (Eric), Amanda Denton, Jake Cox (Emily), Abby Cox (Samuel Wells), Natalie Cox, and Mariel Cox; great grandchildren, Alyna Sharp, Chase Denton, AJ Sharp, Liam Kays, Jameson Kays, Will Rose, Charlie Kays, and Penelope Kays; step grandchildren, Tyler Young (Allyson), Dylan Young, Alex Dodge, Katie Dodge, Jenna Dodge, and Emy Dodge. Step-great-grandchildren, Emmie and Evy Dodge; sisters, Clara Cox, Mona Davis, Kay Brown, and Debbie Hoover; brothers, Jimmy and Donny Cox; many nieces and nephews.
Bill proceeded in death by his wife, Alyna Cox; parents, Glenn and Delouris Cox; brothers, Paul and Bobbie Cox; sisters, Linda Miskell and Georgetta Kozar.
Visitation will be held at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel Thursday March 16, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M Visitation will continue on March 17, 2023, at 9:00 A.M. with Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City, Indiana with Father Frank Renner and Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joe's Cemetery in Princeton, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Blessed Sacrament Church of Oakland City, Indiana or to Alzheimer's Association.
