William E. "Bill" Creighton

William E. "Bill" Creighton passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Marietta Heights. Born August 19, 1934, in Archers Fork, Lawrence Township, OH, he was the son of the late Frank and Ethel Haught Creighton. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Mary Dreyer Creighton, sisters, Clemma (Paul) Smith, Helen (George) Henning, and Frances (Ford) Cochran, and brother, Don (Jo) Creighton. He is survived by his sons, Bill and Chris his business partner and friend, and their families.

Bill started playing sports in his youth. He played basketball and was a four-year starter at Matamoras High School with 89 wins and 21 losses. One of the losses was to the state champion in the 1952 State Tournament. In baseball, Bill played on the first Matamoras High School Baseball Team his senior year. He also played baseball on Independent Adult Baseball Team at the age of 16. He was the first Frontier Athletic Boosters President over seeing funding and building the football facility. He was one of the organizers forming the Matamoras Youth Baseball Program, President and Coach of the League for many years. To continue in sport, he along with his wife, Mary and son, Chris, started Creighton Sports Center in 1985. Bill enjoyed working and would tell you to try it you may enjoy it as he did.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Marietta Heights, Cawley Hospice and his Hospice Nurse, Danielle.

There are no service or visitation at this time. A private burial of his ashes will take place at a later time. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.
