We are saddened to learn that your dear father, Dr. William Dement, has passed away and we send our condolences to you. He will without doubt be missed, and never forgotten. He was an amazing and inspirational person, and his legacy will live on.

Dr. Dement is truly the "father of sleep medicine," and we appreciate his groundbreaking research and decades of diligence and sacrifice as a clinician and teacher helping others understand sleep. Thanks to his research we now know and understand more about sleep and its benefits, and its disorders. I personally am thankful that he was a leading advocate of the importance of getting a good nights sleep and the dangers of not getting enough sleep. Therefore, I am one of countless people who have benefited from his study and research on sleep. Thank you, Dr. Dement, for your advocacy of the importance of getting a good nights sleep. Your legacy will continue; it will endure. We love and appreciate you.
