William Dircks Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 18, 2025.
William Robert Dircks Bill Dircks, age 93, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025. He was born on December 2, 1931. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Terry (Janice), his children: Bill, Gina, and Karie, grandchildren: Jill, Stephen, Austin, Ian and great grandchild: Jace. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Dircks, his brother Peter, and Grandson Christopher. Bill graduated from the University of Minnesota, Class of 1953. While still in high school Bill enlisted in the Naval Air Reserves. It was during his time in the reserves that he met lifelong friends, and future employees. During high school and college, Bill worked for his uncle, R.D. Dircks, at Berger Transfer every night after school and weekends. Bill paid for his own schooling, while living with his parents. Demanding work was never an issue for him. His uncle suffered from heart disease which eventually led to Bill running and finally owning the company. Bill grew Berger to the company it is today where he worked for over 70 years. In 1974 Berger Transfer joined the Allied Van Lines brand and grew to become one of its largest agents. He was president of the Allied Agent Association for 9 years. Bill also founded other businesses, Majestic Studios, B&D Records, Commercial Truck & Trailer, and Professional Metro Temporaries. In 1983 Ray Andrews and Bill had an opportunity to open CES (Crated Exhibit Services) exclusively for 3M. Eventually they expanded other trade show businesses in MN and TX. Bill was humble, kind and generous. He believed that if you needed credit for a deed well done it didn't count. He had a lasting impact on the lives of countless friends, customers, employees, and their families, and his compassion and dedication will be remembered by all who worked with him. Bill's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, his legacy of being a business leader, and above all his kindness. Simple words cannot describe the impact he had on so many lives; they will never be forgotten. Bill requests is to have no service, memorial, or flowers.
