William G. Dodds Sr. (Bill), of Monmouth County, NJ died peacefully on November 8, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in Paterson, NJ on November 5, 1937, he was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sophie (Sadowski) Dodds.
He is survived by and lovingly remembered by his children: Susan (Darrin) of Wenatchee, WA, William (Katherine) of Cresskill, NJ, and Bradford (Maria) of West Long Branch, NJ. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his six grandchildren - Courtney, Claire, Will, Serenity, Noah, and Matias.
Bill graduated from Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ in 1955, going on to study engineering at Lycoming College (PA) before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ in 1959. Bill went on to serve in the US Army Reserve. In 1966, he married the late Kathleen Healy, and they lovingly raised their three children in Woodcliff Lake, NJ before parting ways in 1987.
Throughout his career Bill worked mainly as a Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer in northern NJ, where he was known for his dedication and professionalism. Upon retirement, Bill moved to Ocean County, NJ and later to Naples, FL with his beloved partner, the late Gloria O’Sullivan. Together, they enjoyed beach days, the warm sunshine and cocktails on the lanai. He loved a perfectly cooked steak, a cold beer and discovering those hidden, out-of-the-way spots that always seemed to serve the best food. He will be missed by family and friends alike. May he rest in peace in God’s care.
A celebration of life for Bill will be held in Monmouth County, NJ at a future date and interment will be in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
