Newport, RI - William J. "Bill" Doncaster, Jr., 47, of 5 Canonicus Avenue, Newport, RI, died on July 16, 2011, at home. Born in Newport, RI on February 9, 1964, he was the son of William John and Cathleen (Westley) Doncaster. Bill was a 1982 graduate of Rogers High School and then went on to attend RI College in Providence, Bristol Community College in Fall River and then Academy Health Sciences, US Army, Fort Sam Houston, TX, where he then joined the United States Army becoming a combat medic. Bill worked as a nursing assistant at Ocean State Nursing in Narragansett and Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. From 1993 to 1994 he worked at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, from 1995 to 1996 he worked as a Radiological Trauma Technologist at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas TX, from 1996 to 2001 he was an Interventional Radiologic Technologist at the Methodist Hospital in Dallas TX and from 2001 to 2006 he worked at the Medical City of Dallas in Dallas TX. Bill received the American Registry of Radiological Technologist certification, the Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care certificate and the US Army Combat Medic certificate. Besides his parents, he is survived by his siblings Cathleen Fournier of Westport, MA, Jane Dowler of Newport, RI, and Harry Doncaster of Newport, RI, and his nieces and nephews Eric Fournier of Kansas, Gerard Fournier of Barrington, RI, Robert Dowler of Newport, RI, Catherine Dowler of Newport, RI, and Will Doncaster of Newport, RI. His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 12:00PM, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Portsmouth. Calling hours are omitted. Donations in his memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.

Dear Doncaster Family, Our sincere sympathies in the passing of Bill. Although we didn't know him well he made an impression on us with his kind and gentle nature, a gentle giant for sure.
