Obituary
MIDDLETON – Mr. William T. "Bill" Donovan, 86 of Middleton, beloved husband of Nancy M. (Spurling) Donovan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at North Shore Medical Center in Salem.
Born in Lynn, Bill was the son of the late William and Mary (O'Connor) Donovan. He was raised in Lynnfield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School.
As a young man, Bill learned the value of hard work and dedication when working for his family's business, Glenmere Die in Lynn. Starting at 15 years old, Bill's father taught him that in order to make it to the top, you have to start at the bottom and that is exactly what he did. At the time of the company's closure, Bill was the owner of Glenmere Die. As he transitioned into a new field, Bill owned Curtis Mathes Home Entertainment Center, supplying American made Televisions to our community. Most recently, until the time of his retirement, Bill worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a part of DCAM.
When Bill wasn't actively working, he enjoyed his time relaxing and living carefree on his boat. The ocean and boating were a significant part of his life and he was truly happiest when on the water, with his wife, fishing and enjoying the sea. He was a longtime member of the Volunteer Yacht Club and had also been a member of the Lynn Yacht Club. He truly enjoyed the many friendships and memories he shared over the years. He will be deeply missed by his family and dear friends.
In addition to his wife Nancy, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage, William is survived by his children, Kathleen Donovan and Timothy Donovan, his grandchildren, Jeana Hages and Patrick Donovan and great-grandchildren, George and Brice; his sister, Kathleen Pearce and her husband, Robert and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He was the father of the late Theresa Weidman.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend William's funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 11 A.M. Visiting hours prior to his service from 9 to 11 A.M. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
