William Drayer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knapp Funeral Home - Cissna Park on Dec. 18, 2025.
William "Bill" Albert Drayer, 89, of Cissna Park passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at his home. He was born on September 11, 1936 in Rankin, a son of Samuel and Louise (Farney) Drayer and they preceded him in death in addition to his step-father, Emmanuel Manz; one brother, Samuel Drayer; two sisters, Diane Verkler and Edna Martin; and one step-brother, Roland Manz.
Bill married Judith McCullar on July 15, 1962 in Colorado Springs, CO and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Kellie (Kenie) Rittenhouse of Clarkston, MI, Doug (Barb Bieschke) Drayer of Geneva and Kara (Doug) Teske of Buckley; four grandchildren, Hannah (Erik) Steinbrenner, Caroline (Ryan) Kennedy, Charles (Jessica) Drayer and Abigail Teske; one great-grandson, Graham Steinbrenner; three sisters, Helen Burgett of Cissna Park, Velma (Wayne) Ekhoff of Crescent City and Mabel (Phil) Evans of Franklin, GA; one brother, Wayne (Gloria) Drayer of Fairbury; three step-sisters, Verginia Manz of Paulding, OH, Helen (Pete) Hurd of Haviland, OH and Viola Manz of Paulding, OH; and one step-brother, Paul (Sandra) Manz of Paulding, OH.
Mr. Drayer was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park, Cissna Park American Legion Post #527 and Cissna Park School Board, where he served as President. Bill served in the U.S. Army and farmed his whole life in the Cissna Park and Rankin areas. He loved sitting on his porch, visiting with friends, never knowing a stranger. He always had a joke to tell and was honest and truthful until the end. Bill was very proud of his children and loved his grandchildren dearly.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church Benevolent Fund or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
