DAVID R. KELLY
February 1, 2026
I first met Bill while a senior in high school clerking at Meeker Drug Store, at 55th & Grove (now MLK) Streets in Oakland. That must have been 1957-'58. He had just graduated from Idaho State in pharmacy. I still remember his speaking well of a pharmacy store (chain?) in Chico which had a wide variety of goods. That apparently was a model for his founding of Bill's Drugs here in Contra Costa County. In later years his wife rode horses as did my Margo, so Bill & I saw each other on occasion. A good man, with a good sense of humor. RIP.

Bill has been a mentor of mine for over 35 years. His thirst for learning, making deals and engaging with people at all levels has been inspiring. I thank God for the opportunity of knowing Bill and understanding how to age with grace and a hunger for learning until the end.

Bill Eames was a friend of mine and a great friend of the Lafayette Rotary and the Lafayette and Rossmoor communities. He was very generous with his time and his resources and contributed to many organizations that served local communities and educational non profits.
His long service to the Rotary and to Lafayette garnered him many friends. He received many tributes and awards from the local towns in appreciation of all his good work. Bill, we will miss your broad smile, firm hand shake and gentle demeanor.
