William C. Edick, Sr, 84, of Seneca Falls, NY, died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Sailors Solders Homestead in Penn Yan, NY. Bill's career consisted of driving, and then dispatching for the trucking industry: C&E out of Saugerties, & Palantine Bridge, NY until 1971, Whitakers Trucking located in Deposit, NY 1972-1978, and finished his career working for a Department of Defense Aerospace contractor DynCorp.LLC located in Solomons Island, MD, prior to his retirement. William was a Life time member of VFW. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army, 4th Infantry Division, from July 1943 to February 1946, participating in and surviving the D-Day Landings at Normandy Beach. Born August 27, 1925, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Floyd James and Eileen Mary (Fyfe) Edick. His wife, Julia (Marks) Edick predeceased him on April 8, 2005. Both Julia and Bill grew up in the spring lake area "turkey hill" as he so fondly remembered and talked about. Survived by three sons: Bill Edick of Leonardtown, MD, Bob Edick of California, MD, Brad Edick of Sprakers, NY, three daughters: Carol Edick of California, MD, Catherine Burns of Camillus, NY, and Karen Smith of Deposit, NY, 15 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and two brothers Richie & John Edick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 4th, at Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Barrytown, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning before the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
