William Howard Elswick, a beloved member of the New Albany community, passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on July 13, 1938, Howard lived a life rich in connection and family.
Howard was involved in several organizations that reflected his commitment to camaraderie and fellowship. He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge 2548 in New Albany, the Teamsters Union, and the House of God church in New Albany. His dedication was indicative of his generous spirit and his desire to support those around him.
In his leisure time, Howard found joy in fishing and visiting the casino, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the thrill of competition. He was also a regular at the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in New Albany, where he forged lasting friendships and shared many memorable moments.
Howard's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his love for his family. He is survived by his children, Yvette (Tim) Moriarty, Lettie Schneider, and Wesley Elswick; step-children, Ivy (George) Shawler, Lane Reid, and Annette Forehand; a brother, Ben Elswick; as well as many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elswick and Lettie Adams Elswick; a son, Robert Lee Elswick; and siblings, Conley Elswick, Lonnie Elswick, Vonda Fowler, and Tommy Elswick.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Atkins Chapel Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.
