William Ferritto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sly Family Funeral Home on Jan. 5, 2026.
William "Bill" Ferritto Sr., of Huntsburg, Ohio, was born on March 5, 1942, and passed away peacefully at his home on January 4, 2026.

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 41 years, Deanna Ferritto (Combs).

He is survived by his siblings Bob (Bev) Ferritto, Jeanne (Roger) Knapp, and David Ferritto. Bill was a devoted father to Annette (Oval) Lawson, Anita (Rusty) Cornell, Danny Carabatta, and Marc (Theresa) Carabotta. He was a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply.

Bill was a single parent for ten years before marrying Deanna, with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He worked for many years at Eaton Axle Division until its closing. He later became an over-the-road truck driver, but the job he cherished most was owning and operating his own business, Bill's Transport, where he drove members of the Amish community and formed many lasting friendships.

Bill was well known throughout the community as a baseball umpire for 10 years and a high school football referee for more than 30 years. To those who knew him, Bill was also known as "the Riddler." He had a gift for making people laugh and never missed an opportunity to put a smile on someone's face-a talent he carried with him to the very end.

An avid hunter, Bill loved sharing the outdoors with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them the skills and values he held dear. While he had many treasured hunting memories, none were more meaningful than those spent with them. Though his presence will be deeply missed, nothing will be missed more than his daily riddles.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Western Reserve, especially his nurse, Katie, for the compassionate care provided.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, Ohio 44062. A Time of Sharing by Family and Friends will take place Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Claridon East Cemetery.
