William J. Finley of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22 nd , 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. William (Bill) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 17 th , 1935, to the late Mary Dolores and William S. Finley. A 1954 Elder High School graduate, Bill then served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1961. He worked at the Edelmann Provision Company as a driver and salesman before his retirement. He was a member and volunteer of Blessed Sacrament Church. Bill, affectionally known as “the Meatman,” loved sports, especially baseball, golf, horseshoes and Nascar. His friendly smile and happy-go-lucky spirit never met a stranger. He was a member of the Standard Club and the Blue Room. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen (Baute) Finley. He is also survived by his children, Kim Reese (Tim), Tim Finley (Kathleen), and Colleen Menkhaus (Jim); also survived by his grandchildren, Elissa, Justin (Diana), Tyler (Jessica), Brady (Lisa), Molly, Nick, and Brett. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Max, Mia, Nora, and Saylor, his two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Aunt Mare) Mueller and Micheline Finley and many nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his brothers Jack Finley and Jim Finley. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 27 th , 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Hwy, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017, from 4-6pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 6pm following the visitation. Private burial will take place on Wednesday, February 28 th , 2024, at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the DCCH Center for Children and Families, 75 Orphanage Road, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017 or Elder High School, 3900 Vincent Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45205. Middendorf Funeral Home in Ft. Wright is serving the family.
