William Ford Obituary

RUTLAND, Vt. - William A. Ford Jr., a longtime resident of Allegany, N.Y., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, in Rutland.

He was the oldest of 10 children.

Bill joined the U.S. Air Force Aviation Cadet Corps as an officer candidate in 1957 after high school and graduated from pilot training in 1958. He was an instructor pilot training in the T-33 in Laredo, Texas. In the early years of the Vietnam era, he flew an RT-33 between Clark Air Base in the Philippines, Saigon, Rangoon and Bangkok, Thailand, making regular courier runs to Saigon.

After a shift in air force priorities, Bill's assignment became missile control officer in underground nuclear missiles at Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.; it offered an opportunity to study for his mechanical engineering degree through the University of Wyoming.

Survivors include his daughter, Judith Ford Hamlin; and his son-in-law, Giles (Tod) Hamlin Jr.; grandchildren, Charlie, Jamie and Sarah Hamlin; as well as sister-in-law, Lois Pancio; nephew, John Pancio; and nieces, Amy Pancio and Cheryl (Jeff) Hall. He leaves behind brother, Pat (Suzanne) Ford; sisters, Mary Agraz, Estelle (Richard) Willamson, Clara Ford, Katie (Joel) Sprouse and Mona Ford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins from his Ford family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Ford Sr. and Fannie Jackson Ford, both of the Chattanooga, Tenn. area; his beloved wife, Jean Pancio Ford; his brothers, James and Jack Ford; his sister, Janet Meadows; his brothers-in-law, Paul Pancio of Olean, N.Y. and Dr. Rodolfo Agraz of Marietta, Ga.; as well as numerous beloved aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, 95 E. Main St., Allegany, NY 14706.
