JOHNSON CITY - Mr. William "Bill" Foster, 87, of Johnson City, passed away at home on Thursday, June 22, 2023. After a long life filled with many accomplishments.
Bill was a resident of Johnson City for 16 years. Prior to this he lived in Gallatin, TN and Queens, NY. He was the son of the late Thilbert and Josephine Foster.
He graduated in 1953 from Clifton High School in Clifton, New Jersey. While in High School he began working for the founder of White Castle System, INC. at the age of fourteen. He worked 44 years in management while running 43 Units in New York.
Bill was a patriot having served in the US Army from 1959-1961. He was stationed in Viet Nam.
Bill was an avid fisherman. He especially loved deep sea fishing in Mexico and Canada. One of his proudest moments was catching a 773 lb. Striped Marlin in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Bill was always on the go. His many interests included spending time with family, traveling with his wife Janet, and working on various projects around home.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Scott Robert Foster.
Survivors include his wife Janet Leonard – Foster; daughter; Kimberly Stoffers of Jericho, NY; niece, Jill Foster of Springfield, TN; three grandsons, Christopher Stoffers, Ashton, and Maxwell Foster; two granddaughters, Samantha, and Cassandra Stoffers; stepdaughter, Angelia Campbell and husband, Dwayne; stepson, Thomas Brian Leonard, and several step grandchildren.
A "Celebration of Life" for Bill will be held at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend. Many of Bill's attributes include being an honest, admirable, and generous man. His humor, compassion, and love for life will be missed by all that knew him.
