William Lee Frederickson, Jr., affectionately known as Bill by those who knew him well, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born on August 3, 1952, in New Port News, Virginia, Bill lived a remarkable 73 years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Self-employed as a dedicated roofer and a passionate fisherman, Bill was a man who embraced the simple joys of life. His work was more than just a job; it was a testament to his hard-working spirit and dedication to his craft. Whether he was atop a roof or out on the water, Bill poured his heart into everything he did.
Bill's greatest pleasures came from life's little treasures. He found joy in exploring all flea markets, spending time outdoors, and casting a line at his favorite fishing spots. with his goodfriend, Rock Macavey, by his side, he cherished many days at Scotch Bonnet Fishing Pier and Barnacle Bill's Fishing Pier. A true animal lover, his loyal dog Bo was always nearby.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Lee Frederickson, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Frederickson, and his sister, Linda Naomi Davis.
Bill's legacy continues through his surviving family: his two beloved daughters, Mary Alisica Fussell and her husband, William of Burgaw, NC, and Crystal Lee Willingham of Asheboro, NC; his treasured grandchildren, Justin Ray Ross, Kristina Nicole Ross, and Rilee Star Willingham; and his dear friend, Rock. Bill also leaves behind a host of friends who were touched by his vibrant spirit.
A celebration of Bill's life will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Prior to the service, a time of visitation will be held one hour earlier at the funeral home.
