Billy was one of the best Men I ever met.A great friend to my father,I was honored to go through the FDNY academy with his son John.Rest in peace Billy and my condolences to all of the Gates.

William, you failed to make your battle stations during general quarters. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow veteran and community servant. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
