William Martin Giffen Jr.

William Martin Giffen Jr., age 92, of Hudson, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Martha (née McConnell) and William Martin Giffen Sr., as well as his sister, Martha Wright Moon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet Diane (née Roth) Giffen; his loving children, Diane Giffen, William Giffen III, and Laura Giffen; and his cherished granddaughter, Dana Morgan Giffen.

He was born in Akron, Ohio where he spent his early years and graduated from Kenmore High School. He then went on to pursue his love of chemistry and obtained his Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. all from The University of Akron.

Bill spent his career as a research chemist, contributing his expertise to several companies over the years, including Amoco Chemical, General Tire, Marbon Chemical, Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation, and Sohio Research (now BP). He devoted ten years to Sohio Research before retiring.

In retirement, Bill became an active and dedicated member of the Hudson and Stow Lions Clubs. He was also an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on teams from Cleveland, The Ohio State University, and The University of Akron. Baseball held a special place in his heart.

Burial will take place privately at Markillie Cemetery in Hudson, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
