William Andrew Gilbert

William Gilbert, age 58, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this earthly life Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. He was born on December 24, 1966 in Estill County to the late Woodrow and Jessie Stamper Gilbert. William cherished his family and was known for his kind and caring nature.

William was a dedicated warehouse worker who found joy in working on old cars, drawing, listening to music, woodworking and exploring different places through traveling. He was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife, Kathy and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and their five cherished dogs.

In his passing, William is reunited with his parents along with his late brother, Tony Newton; his late sisters-in-law, Linda Stokley, Kay Childers and Helen Gilbert and his late brother-in-law, Terry Wayne Stamper.

William is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Kathy Stamper Gilbert who was his rock and partner in life. He is also survived by his special niece, Sheila Hardy, special great nieces, Sienna Hardy and Brienna Hardy and special nephew, Blake Hardy. William is also survived by his brother, Woodrow Darrell Gilbert; his sister, Melanie Gilbert Miller (Dan); his brother-in-law, Hiram Stamper (Virginia); his sisters-in laws, Sandy Newton, Tina Stamper, Brenda Plowman (Jerry), Edna Stamper (Weldon), Pam Childers (Ricky), Alma Salley (George); special aunt, Matt Horn; several nephews, nieces and cousins all loved by him dearly.

Visitation for William will begin Friday, October 31, 2025 at the Calvary Baptist Church on Glory Street in Irvine, Kentucky from 4:00PM - 9:00PM with the funeral service being held Saturday, November 1, at 12:00 PM with Sam Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the West Bend Cemetery at Clay City with David Hardy, Blake Hardy, Stevie Plowman, Charles Campbell, Jonathan Plowman and Richard Childers serving as pallbearers. Jerry Plowman and Weldon Stamper will serve as honorary pallbearers.

William Gilbert will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will forever be cherished and remembered. May he rest in peace.
