William Paul Gillis, age 63, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Paul was born on September 19, 1962, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada, to the late W.R. Gillis and Joy Bryan. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Paul spent most of his life surrounded by family, friends, and the community he loved.

He was a proud graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy and later devoted many years of service to working as a restaurant server, where his friendly spirit and sense of humor made him a favorite among coworkers and patrons alike.

Paul had a deep love for blues music. He found joy in playing the harmonica and could often be heard filling a room with soulful melodies. Known as a natural comedian, he loved telling jokes and bringing laughter to everyone around him. His warm personality, quick wit, and kind heart left lasting impressions on all who knew him.

Above all, Paul cherished his family. His love for them was evident in every conversation and every smile he shared.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: two brothers, Michael Gillis and Shawn Gillis; one niece, Kassidy Gillis; and two nephews, Tanner Gillis and Peyton Gillis.

He is preceded in passing by his parents and sister, Heather Gillis.

Paul will be remembered for his laughter, his love of music, and the joy he brought into the lives of others. Though he is no longer with us, his melody will continue to play in the hearts of those who loved him.

There will be a public visitation honoring the life of Mr. William Paul Gillis to be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, 759 Highway 51, Madison, MS 39110 between 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul's memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
