Mr. Guild....he will always be Mr. Guild since 8th grade shop class! What a wonderful person and great neighbor. I so enjoyed our chats as he took his sweet dog on their daily walks, regardless of the weather. (I was not outside on those occasions.) So many interesting stories and life experiences. He will be sadly missed. Blessings to the family.

I am sorry for your loss of a wonderful man. Mr. & Mrs. Guild made a great team and I always enjoyed both of them. I knew their daughter Marilyn and her daughters and I know along with Kathy that they were a very special family. God bless Sharon Sermon Ramseyer

Part of our long friendship has involved the fun of knowing Helen and Bill. I have always been touched by how many people they welcomed into their home, onto their boat, and into their lives. They have each shared so many fun times with your friends. As Bill joins your Mom in this final transition, I can't help but think they are walking off together, holding hands, and planning the details for their next gathering. I'd like to share my three favorite memories of Uncle Bill.
1) In the early seventies, his then-teen daughter Katherine swam shore to shore at Otsego Lake in northern Michigan, and Uncle Bill and I were in the rowboat together, seeing to her safety as she swam. The three of us celebrated her success.
2) At an aviation museum in the late seventies, Uncle Bill spent most of a family visit with me, explaining the exhibits based on his experience in the Army Air Corps. My cousin's dad did the same with his son, and my father had more time to himself to enjoy the exhibits, which he hadn't seen before. That visit exemplified the meaning of extended family.
3) In the mid-80s, Uncle Bill and Aunt Helen had moved to a new house, and I saw it for the first time. It was the most enjoyable of my first solo visits to my extended family as a grown man.

Bill and I started our college career at the same time at Delta College. It was a privilege to be one of his many friends at Delta.
However, I never realized his patience at overcoming mistakes by others until I had the opportunity to be part of his crew on the Saturday races on Saginaw Bay for many races regardless the weather. When we as a crew would make a sailing execution mistake during a crucial part of the race just a quick remark would be heard then all would be forgiven and never mentioned again. What a fantastic teacher: To forgive and forget.
Thank you Bill and your family for being part of my life, both professionally and personally.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. Our childhood friends and childhood memories are somehting that can never be replaced and are so precious. . My thoughts and prayers are with you.
