It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Guile, who passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the age of 77 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. Bill was a cherished resident of Hoffman, IL. He was born in Pontiac, IL, on September 8, 1947 to Charles Rosinski and Theresa (Landry) Guile. On November 8, 1969, he married Frances Begler and she passed away on November 28, 1993. He later married Toni Carpenter on August 17, 2002 and she survives. Bill's life was marked by dedicated service to his community and country. A proud veteran, Bill served in the Navy where he developed a strong sense of duty that continued throughout his life. He was a respected prison guard at Stateville and Joliet before transferring to Centralia Correctional Center as the B of I Supervisor and served the Department of Corrections for 32 years. He was a devoted leader and served 15 years as a Clinton County Court Security Officer. He served the Village of Hoffman for 11 years as Village Trustee and 22 years as the Village President. Bill's commitment to improving his community never wavered. Beyond his professional life, Bill enriched the lives of those around him as a Boy Scout Master for over 20 years with Troop 264 and 294, sharing his love for the great outdoors and shaping the character of countless young men. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 325 in Germantown, and found joy operating as a ham radio, and Jeep enthusiast. Bill's passion for life extended to his hobbies; he was an avid Cubs fan and a keen photographer, capturing the beauty of the world through his lens. He leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his beloved wife, Toni Guile of Hoffman; sons, Alan Guile (Sandra) of Cincinnati, OH, Eric Guile (Wendy) of Roscoe, IL, and Brad Guile (Teresa) of Blandinsville, IL; daughters, Kaci Van Sickle (Travis) of Kell, and Kayla Parke (Lucas) of Centralia. He was the devoted grandfather to William, Matthew, Sarah, Ellie, Keegan, Tate, Asher, and Gavin, as well as four bonus grandchildren, Frank, Taylor, Dawson, and Tanner, and was admired by several nieces and nephews. William is survived by his sisters-in-law Bobbi Swift (Russell) of Alma and Micki Adams (Jeff) of Shattuc. and lots of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jacob and Theresa Guile, and his first wife, Frances (Begler) Guile. A visitation for family and friends for Bill Guile will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Military Rites will be accorded at the Funeral Home by the American Legion Post 446 and the V.F.W. Post 2055. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hoffman Fire Protection or a charity of the donor's choice, reflecting Bill's lifelong commitment to serving others and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, IL 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Guile family. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home's Facebook page. As we gather to celebrate William's life, we remember a man who lived with purpose, touched the lives of many, and whose legacy will continue to inspire.
