William H. Haarer Jr.

William H. Haarer, Jr., passed away on February 12, 2024, one day after his 92nd birthday. He was born February 11, 1932 in Shipshewana, Indiana to the late William Sr. and Fannie (Eash) Haarer.
Bill came to Sarasota in 1961 from Shipshewana and worked many years as a drywall finisher. After retirement, he spent many hours beside his wife cutting, measuring and putting together quilts, which were then donated to various organizations.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years whom he married on April 10, 1955, Shirley; son William and his wife Patricia; daughters Connie Troyer; and Sherri Beiler and her husband Steve; son-in-law Brad Augspurger; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter Dawn Augspurger and grandson Justin.
Bill was a devout Christian, a true believer in Christ. He witnessed to many people on the job site when he was still working and continued to witness to his fellow residents during his final years in the nursing home. He was referred to by his fellow residents at the nursing home as a man of God.
