William Hall Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 11, 2025.
Captain William Latimer Hall III, USNR (Ret.) passed away on Sunday, 2 November 2025, at his home in Langhorne, PA following a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 84 years old.

The first-born son of Norma Virginia Morris Hall and William L. Hall Jr., Bill was born on 3 September 1941 in Sacramento, CA. He attended Madrid Dependents High School during his father's civil-service assignment in Spain and, following graduation in 1959, briefly attended San Jose State University. Bill eventually earned a congressional appointment to the US Naval Academy, where he joined 8th Company and the rest of the Class of 1967. Designated a Naval Aviator on 29 July 1968, he spent the vast majority of his distinguished career flying Anti-Submarine Warfare/Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft (TS-2A, P-3A/B, TC-4C and A-6A) in both the Active Duty Navy, and Naval Reserves before retiring as a Captain in 1994.

Concurrent to his military service, Bill built an impressive corporate aviation career, circumnavigating the globe in Gulfstreams, King Airs, and Hawker Siddeley business jets. His discipline, technical acumen, and quiet humility reflective of his upbringing and education at USNA-enabled Bill to succeed in his many decades in civilian aviation. Bill retired from Amerada Hess Oil Company as Chief Pilot in 2001.

But Bill's proudest accomplishments came in the form of his family. He was, in every sense of the word, a provider; there was nothing Bill wouldn't sacrifice to ensure his loved ones' support and success. He was a consummate gentleman, a Jeopardy grandmaster, and an avid Porsche enthusiast. His legacy of silent strength, unwavering honesty, and proud service to his country and his family will forever endure.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen Damrau Hall; their children, Major William "Bowie" Hall IV, USAF (Jessica) of Wading River, NY, Christopher Hall (Lori) of Phoenixville, PA; three grandchildren, Miles, Simone, and Sophia; his sister, Catherine Hall Myrowitz (Elliott); and his brother Stephen Hall (Peggy). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Brian Gilmore, Kevin Gilmore, Rachel Myrowitz, David Myrowitz, Sara Hall Gruzas and Ashley Hall. Included in those who will miss Bill deeply are brother-in-law John Damrau, sister-in-law Lynne Markgraf, as well as numerous friends, neighbors, former colleagues, and US Naval Academy classmates.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Bill's family on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, from 10:00 AM for visitation with the family, until the start of his Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at Woodside Presbyterian Church at 1667 Edgewood Road in Yardley, PA 19067. His interment, with military honors, will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, The Parkinson's Foundation, or to a charity of one's choice.
