A Celebration of Life Service for William Tarlton Harp, 84, of Indian Mound, TN will be Friday, August 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Bro. Joe Shannon will officiate. Burial will follow in Smith-Austin Cemetery alongside his wife, Brenda Joyce Harp. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
William, affectionately known as Tarlton, was born on March 21, 1941 in Montgomery County to William and Almeda Harp. He passed away on August 11, 2025. Tarlton was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a "Jack-of-all-trades", from building homes to being a skilled mechanic. He enjoyed woodworking, rabbit and deer hunting, and fishing. His most cherished times were listening to his daughter play and sing bluegrass and gospel music.
In addition to his parents and wife, Tarlton is preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Joyce Ogg. He is survived by his daughter Benita Harp; brother, Garry Harp; and sister Shirley Davis.
Pallbearers are Phillip Keatts, Ricky Wallace, Marty Wallace, Johnny Keatts, Brock Keatts, and Tyler Keatts. Honorary pallbearers are Tanner McIntyre, Perry Robertson, Neal Wallace, Dotson Luffman, Tony Keatts, and David Candler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
